COZYTONIGHT
How Cozy Score works
The Cozy Score estimates a specific kind of comfort. It does not measure artistic quality, age suitability or universal emotional safety.
Five ingredients
Low stress and pressure: 30%. Comforting atmosphere: 25%. Emotional gentleness: 20%. Relaxed pacing or control over pace: 15%. Familiarity and revisit appeal: 10%. Each dimension is scored from 0 to 5.
The calculation
Cozy Score = round(100 × sum(weight × dimension / 5)). The stored weights are 0.30, 0.25, 0.20, 0.15 and 0.10. A score of 5 indicates a strong fit; 3 indicates mixed comfort and friction; 1 indicates substantial pressure or emotional intensity.
Across four media
For films and TV, pacing means the rhythm of the viewing experience. For video games, it includes control over progress and time pressure. For board games, it includes turn pressure, complexity and competitive tension. Familiarity means repeatable comfort potential, not measured audience recognition.
Why provisional?
All current numerical estimates are source-based and provisional; each title stores five dimensions, a title-specific rationale, source material and methodology version CT-1.1. The displayed rationale explains the trade-off. They have not been confirmed by independent human playtesting or viewing. No genuine community score exists yet.
Separate cautions, always
Grief, frightening scenes, violence, combat and stressful mechanics are described separately. A high atmosphere score cannot erase those concerns. Read the caution even when the total looks inviting.
Revisions
When facts, editions or assessments change, update the affected dimensions, rationale, source links and verification date together. Human review is required before changing a source-based assessment to a reviewed editorial score.
