COZYTONIGHT
A gentler game night starts before turn one.
The right game is only part of a comfortable evening. The right expectations matter just as much.
Start with the energy in the room
Choose Patchwork for exactly two people who enjoy a small tactical puzzle. Cascadia gives one to four players a more open landscape to build. Calico asks for tighter planning than its cats might suggest.
Leave room for learning
Published play times generally do not include finding components, explaining rules or a first-game pause. Add breathing room, especially for Wingspan’s engine-building decisions.
Make competition explicit
These games can look gentle while still rewarding efficient play. Agree whether you want an open teaching game, a serious contest or a relaxed first exploration. There is no need to rush another person’s turn.
